Unpainted Canvas.

What is the future except an unpainted canvas,

an unwritten story.

The future is unknown.

But in approaching that unknown future we bring

our own history,

our families,

our cultures,

and our customs,

until we have trouble finding separation in the categories of our past,

until we have trouble seeing the beauty and the possibility of that blank canvas,

the unwritten story

that stands before us.

We stand shoulder to shoulder,

each burdened with our own interpretation of the road that has brought us to this point,

our own journeys,

our own visions of what tomorrow has the possibility to be.

All we need to do is reach out to our left

and our right,

to acknowledge those beside us and their journeys to this place,

right here,

now,

as we stand on the cusp of the future,

the unknown.

Together we are able to build the future.

We’re able to create something that is altogether new:

a masterpiece,

a work of art,

an original.

Something that recalls the past.

that reflects each one of us as,

shoulder to shoulder,

together

we step forward.

Forging, together,

a brand-new future where everyone is equal,

valued,
